Getting Here by Air

The north‑central Vancouver Island region is within easy reach of Vancouver, Victoria, and Washington State. Campbell River is served by a growing mix of scheduled commercial flights, charter services, and direct seaplane connections, making travel to the region increasingly convenient.

New in 2026, WestJet has introduced seasonal non‑stop service between Campbell River and Calgary, beginning May 15. This marks the first direct scheduled air connection between Campbell River and Alberta and provides direct access to WestJet’s Calgary hub, with onward connections across Canada and internationally. The route strengthens regional connectivity and supports both leisure and business travel to northern Vancouver Island.

Campbell River Airport (YBL) has reliable, convenient daily scheduled airline services by Pacific Coastal Airlines via the South Terminal at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The airport is located just 15 minutes from downtown Campbell River and is designated as a Port of Entry, regularly accommodating a wide range of aircraft, from small private planes to larger corporate and charter flights.

Also new in 2026, Harbour Air offers seasonal direct seaplane service between downtown Vancouver (Coal Harbour) and Campbell River, providing a fast, scenic, downtown‑to‑downtown connection without the need for ferry or highway travel. The service begins July 6 and adds a unique and efficient access option for both leisure and business travellers arriving directly into the community by water.

From the Comox Airport (YQQ), Campbell River is a 40-minute drive north along the scenic Inland Island Highway 19A.
