An Adventure at Every Turn
Historic Trails and Discoveries
Little has changed in this area since the early 1900s when logging was introduced. Relics of the past can be found throughout the community, on the beaches, and in the trail networks around the community. Many proud locals have been here for decades and are often tremendous resources to those looking to learn about the past.
For those seeking a contemplative adventure, scenic day trips to the mission of Esperanza, Yuquot (Friendly Cove) or Zeballos are easily arranged through the many fishing and guiding outfits. While cruising through the many inlets, watch for the rafts of sea otters as they soak in the sun.
The Pristine Waters are Calling
Dive, Boat, Kayak and Swim
The full-service marina and boat launch is a hive of activity. It provides services to private boaters and professional guides whose guests head to the rich fishing grounds of Nootka Sound.
Serious anglers will be treated to excellent saltwater fishing and the opportunity to land some of the largest salmon and halibut caught in BC. Experienced sea kayakers often launch from Tahsis to explore the seemingly endless bays and inlets of Nootka and Kyuquot Sounds. This area is also becoming better known as having some of the world’s finest cold water dive sites.

Journey to Sites of Natural Beauty
Caves, Trails and Waterfalls
On land, you will find many opportunities to explore the historical sites of Nootka Sound. Delve into the surrounding hills and valleys to view abundant wildlife, hike the Nootka Trail on Nootka Island, and spelunk the vast networks of karst caverns where rare depigmented trout can be found.
