Campbell River is well-known for the inviting nature and serene landscapes that surround the city. Visitors and locals alike seek solace from the noise of day-to-day life in pursuits such as forest bathing and oceanfront walks. Outdoor seating across town offers the perfect interval to sit in and wait for a wildlife sighting, while our museums, galleries, and spas are quiet spaces of reflection.

Head For The Trees

Hikers, walkers, campers, bikers, forest bathers… they all head to Campbell River for our multitude of forest trails, lookout hikes, and river- and lake-front campsites that grace our north and western edges. Elk Falls Provincial Park and Beaver Lodge Forest Lands are our most frequented spaces—made up of creeks, waterfalls, old-growth forest, wildflowers, lush ferns, and often a wildlife sighting or two. Stand still for some time in one spot and immerse in our incredible, biodiverse forest ecosystems—the smallest of details come to the forefront when we take the time to notice.

Seating To Seek Out

Take in the tranquil sea-to-sky view along the Campbell River waterfront from the comfort of perfectly placed seating throughout several well-maintained parks. From the northern tip of our downtown at Dick Murphy Park to the recently revitalized flower beds of Rotary Park, you’ll find benches along with plenty of driftwood logs if a natural bench is more your style. Meanwhile, further south, Ellis Park boasts joyful Adirondack chairs in ocean hues while hunting down the most tucked-away parks like Adams, Larwood, and Jaycee regularly offer green spaces virtually to oneself. Come evening, focus in on the crackling and colours of an oceanfront beach fire with loved ones.

Off-screen Inspiration

When you’re looking for respite from the elements, head indoors to the peacefulness of one of our museums, galleries, or spas. The Naturally Pacific Resort has recently opened its aptly named Immersion Spa complete with a multi-sensory mineral pool and Italian-made Experience Showers. Enjoy treatments set to beautiful scenery at The Coconut Spa or head to Willow Point’s Eden Street Salon and Spa—a trusted sanctuary for locals for over twenty years. Go home inspired with an off-screen immersion in history, art, and culture at the Museum at Campbell River, the Maritime Heritage Centre, and the Campbell River Art Gallery.
