Fall for Campbell River

Autumn is an ideal time to visit the eastern shores of Vancouver Island. The pace of life slows down after the busyness of summer and long afternoons lend themselves to lingering on a patio with friends. As the leaves turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold, bears lumber down to the river to scoop up salmon migrating home to spawn. Come discover what fall has to offer where city meets the sea.

Before you leave town, step into the woods for one last hit of nature. The Canyon View Trail in Elk Falls Provincial Park is considered a moderate hike, with a length of six kilometres round trip and a minimal elevation gain. Access the trailhead  at the logging bridge northeast of town on Highway 28.

The Canyon View Trail follows the banks of the Campbell River and in late summer and fall it is likely you will see fisherfolk wading in the shallows. If you would like to view Elk Falls and the suspension bridge, you can add the 3.5 kilometre Millennium Trail to your adventure.
