Penfield Park and Beaver Lodge Forest Lands
Penfield West Park includes an off-leash dog park that has a mix of open areas and shady trees. Once you’ve done a few rounds of training or made some new friends, Beaver Lodge Forest Lands is just a short walk away. This area is leash optional, but it’s important to remember that dogs should be under control, particularly with the chance of surprise encounters with wildlife and around unfamiliar four-legged friends.
Before or after your walk, coffee, smoothies, and snacks are available at Island Grind Coffee & Tea with its dog-friendly patio (there’s usually a water bowl outside too). If you’re craving some ocean time, the alternative is to head to the coast and Daves’ Bakery or Serious Coffee for a drink and a bite, before enjoying the on-leash Seawalk from Willow Point.
Robron Park and the Rotary Seawalk
A spacious new off-leash dog park has opened at Robron Park, close to the park’s tennis courts, pickleball courts, playground, and other amenities, making this a great spot to spend a few hours with the whole family.
Afterward, head toward the water via Rockland Road to enjoy the Rotary Seawalk with your pup on-leash. Stop to enjoy the seating in Ellis Park, look out for the artwork on Big Rock, and pause at Foggdukkers Coffee and Roasting for a coffee or ice cream. Stay awhile to watch for wildlife, before continuing on to Rotary Beach Park to enjoy more seating, flowers, beach access, and the respite of the trees.
Robron Dog Park is also not far from the northern end of Beaver Lodge Forest Lands to the west of Dogwood Street, with parking at Trask Road.

Evergreen Off-Leash Dog Park and Campbellton
Naturally Pacific Resort has all the amenities to ensure your pet-friendly stay is not only comfortable, but enjoyable. Just down the road from the resort is a handy new off-leash dog park at the corner of Evergreen Road and Peterson Road. The park is also a short drive from Campbellton where tasty eateries like Kung Fu Cafe with its dog-friendly patio await to grab a meal and a coffee to-go.
The on-leash Campbellton River Route is a 7 km walk that takes in views of the river, parks, and Baikie Island Nature Reserve. This serene reserve is being revitalized, and while dogs are welcome, they should be on-leash to protect sensitive and recovering ecosystems. The Canyon View trail in Elk Falls Provincial Park is also a 5-minute drive from Campbellton; dogs are welcome but must be on-leash.
Dog-Friendly Patios in Campbell River
Once you’ve had your fill of the off-leash dog park and a few picturesque on-leash walkways and waterways, there are a handful of dog-friendly patios in Campbell River to enjoy. Beach Fire Brewing, which has its own two resident dogs, Quay West Kitchen, Carve Kitchen + Meatery, and Big Rock Garage welcome well-behaved dogs.
There are also so many incredible beachfront picnic spots along Campbell River’s shoreline that many visitors opt for take-out and post up to wildlife watch with their dinner. Accessible dog-friendly spots include Dick Murphy Park, with dogs on-leash, Ken Forde Park, and Stories Beach.
