Whether you’re a rider yourself or want to watch some of the best bikers go head-to-head, several can’t-miss cycling events are returning to Campbell River for 2025.

River City Gravel Fondo
The BC Gravel Series: Vancouver Island arrives in Campbell River on April 20, 2025. The first in a series of four exciting events that take riders from Campbell River to the Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo, and Cumberland. The Campbell River gravel series event has three different route options that all depart from the We Wai Kai Sports Field, depending on the distance you are keen to cover. The Impulso is an out-and-back route that stays south of the Gold River Highway and covers 32.2 km. The Intermedio is a loop that includes roads north of Campbell Lake and covers 71 km. The Esperto is also a loop, following a similar route to the Intermedio and then some, with extra kilometres around the gravel roads and lakes to the north of Campbell Lake to a total of 115.3 km.


BC Bike Race in Campbell River
Campbell River is an exciting stop on the BC Bike Race circuit—an epic seven-day mountain bike event across Vancouver Island—in 2025. Stage 6 takes place through Snowden Demonstration Forest and Elk Falls Provincial Park on July 5. The cross-country route gives riders a taste of our lush green spaces, remote trails, hidden lakes, and picturesque bluffs. Racers can sign up in teams or solo categories. Come for the energy of the experience, whether you’re a rider or a spectator, and enjoy all that Campbell River has to offer afterward by taking your celebrations downtown or making a weekend of it. The seventh and final stage is in Cumberland, just a 35-minute drive from Campbell River.
