The most delicious of foodie festivities returns to Campbell River in September. The Vancouver Island Food Truck Festival will again pop up in Campbell River’s beautiful oceanfront Robert Ostler Park on Saturday, September 14, 2024. RE/MAX Check Realty is the core sponsor behind the popular annual event.

Visitors to the Vancouver Island Food Truck Festival will dine out on a diverse spread of food trucks that have travelled from Campbell River’s neighbouring communities and beyond. Tell your friends, bring the whole family, and grab a plate (or five) to savour global cuisines, favourite trucks you’ve tried before, and homemade treats. Enjoy a backdrop of local live music from noon until 7 PM at the downtown Business Association’s Trailer Stage.

Global Cuisine, Island Ingredients
The line-up of food trucks has been released so you can start planning your snacks, main, and dessert ahead of time. Everything from pupusas (from Comox Valley-based Pupuseria Las Gemelas) and incredible Trinbagonian street food of doubles topped with homemade chutneys (from Cowichan Valley-based The Steel Pan) to vibrant gluten-free dragon bowls (from The Dragon Bowl) and tasty burgers and poutine (from Qualicum Beach’s The Knockananna Grill) will be on the Vancouver Island Food Truck Festival menu. Then there are pies and bison burgers from the Tasty Kitchen Outlet, nourishing bowls from Powell River-based Rosemary Lane & Co, and Ethiopian/Eritrean cuisine from Comox Valley-based Tameet Food Truck. A true celebration of international flavours and hyperlocal ingredients, Island entrepreneurship, and a community gathering around great food and music.
Vote for Your Favourite
For the sweet-toothed, cookies, real fruit ice cream, mini donuts, and crepes from some of the Island’s best dessert trucks will be waiting to round out the afternoon of eating. Make time to try as many different dishes as possible, before voting for your favourite truck in the People’s Choice category (a voting link will be available at the event). Then see if your pick matches the prestigious gold or silver awards in the Jury’s Selection—chosen by a panel of Campbell River food enthusiasts. In 2023, the Jury awarded Pupuseria Las Gemelas the Gold award, and The Dragon Bowl the Silver award, while the People’s Choice awards went to the same two trucks but in reverse order.
Make the most of an evening spent outside by bringing your lawn games or partake in some of those provided by the City of Campbell River for the event. Keep your eyes on Discovery Passage for the possibility of an orca or humpback whale sighting, and let the kids make the most of Robert Ostler Park’s on-site playground. Book a stay at one of our wonderful accommodations to truly enjoy the atmosphere and all Campbell River has on offer this September.
