There’s so much to see and do here in Campbell River. Here are some of our favourite summer events and activities in town.
Campbell River Farmers’ Market
Campbell River’s Farmers’ Market takes place in Spirit Square in Downtown from May until September. Even if you’re not after local produce it’s still well worth a visit to check out the many artisan suppliers—from jewellery and wood carvings to skincare and art—as well as local food trucks and live music. The Campbell River Art Gallery also hosts pop-up art workshops outside their doors beside Spirit Square to tie in with the Farmers’ Market each week.
Campbell River Live Streets
Throughout July and August, Campbell River Live Streets provides complimentary entertainment every Wednesday evening in the heart of downtown outside the Tidemark Theatre. Previous events have included a Comedy Night, a Country Night of dancing and music, art battles and demonstrations, and a Salsa and Latin Night. Each year’s event series culminates in a grand finale in late August that brings a touring artist or band to town with Current Swell having performed in 2023.
Summer Sports and Cultural Events
Other summer-centric cultural events take place at the likes of Haig-Brown Heritage House, Campbell River Museum, and Sybil Andrews’ Cottage—from historic boat trips to live music and poetry readings in the gardens. If sports are more your thing, then the likes of the Van Isle 360 sailboat race and the BC Bike Race are the perfect summer events to tie into a trip to our region.
If your trip doesn’t line up with our events calendar, or you’re simply looking for more spontaneous adventures, summer is also our favourite time to grab an infamously large scoop of ice cream on the Discovery Harbour Pier, see what the catch-and-release Discovery Passage Aquarium has in store, and book a campsite to soak up every minute of sunshine and the lighter evenings with our loved ones. Curate your own itinerary—filled with wildlife watching, time on our forested trails, and numerous water activities, before refuelling outside on one of our restaurant patios
