Parenting recently has taken on a whole new meaning for many. Parents everywhere have suddenly become multi-tasking legends on the daily, with their skills as a teacher, partner, playmate, chef, workout instructor, snack making master, and working professional, you name it, parents are doing it!
As Mother’s Day approaches we’ve been thinking about how to celebrate the important caregivers in our lives and perhaps how to mark the day without wearing the same sweatpants from the day (ok two) before.

While this Mother’s Day will be celebrated differently for many, we thought we’d provide you with some inspiration from local businesses who are still open and have pivoted to offer online shopping and local delivery. (Shopping from the comfort of your home, yes please.)

1. Find her new favourite read at Coho Books

If your mom is an avid reader then look no further than Coho Books. Well stocked with a variety of books from fiction to gardening you’re sure to be able to find something that appeals! If you can’t narrow it down call the store, the owners are excellent at suggesting books. They also carry a selection of puzzles. You can shop online and have your gift delivered straight to your mom’s door.

2. Pick out her new favourite mug

Mussels and More Pottery have been operating in Campbell River for decades. Their coastal-inspired pottery is the perfect gift for any mom, with their pieces being both functional and beautiful. We’re personally partial to their mugs (especially when they’re filled with the custom Campbell River blend from Stonehouse Teas). You can shop online for mugs and other pottery here and you can shop online for tea here.

3. Order Take-Out or Delivery from her Favourite Local Restaurant

Treat your mom to a nice meal, everyone loves a night off from cooking! Local favourite Quay West has take-out with an amazing menu sure to make the evening special. Or opt for something more casual like a tasty breakfast and to-go milkshakes from the Ideal Cafe. Buying a gift card to use together at a later date is always a great option as well.

You can find a full list of open restaurants and their services here

4. Purchase a gift card from a local tour operator to use at a later date

Plan a future adventure for the two of you to experience together. Campbell River is chock full of incredible adventures and our tour operators will help set you up. Choose from whale watchingfishingbear watching or flightseeing. No matter what you pick it will no doubt give you both a new perspective on our area and create lasting cherished memories.

5. Give her an at-home spa day

Treat your mom to a bit of well-deserved pampering. Pick up some bath bombs & candles from Ravesong Soap. Or check out French Creek Collective for locally made goodies.

6. Gift your mom local craft beer and spirits

If your mom is big into craft brews then look no further than Beach Fire Brewing. Get a few cans of their signature beers delivered to your mom’s door. Or stop by Session Tap Room they have just re-opened and are well stocked with a variety of BC craft beers. Pick up a new favourite for you and your mom to try. Both cans and growler fills are available. If spirits are more your mom’s speed than order online with Shelter Point Distillery. Their award-winning whiskeys are sure to please!
