CR Live Streets is a vibrant celebration of culture and community that takes place through July and August each summer in the heart of downtown Campbell River.

Locals turn out in force, visitors enjoy adding evening entertainment to their Campbell River vacation, and domestic travellers from Vancouver Island make the journey specifically to see certain live performers or take part in family-friendly events.

The award-winning CR Live Streets event series offers free admission, thanks to a collaboration between the City of Campbell River, Highway 19 Concerts, and the Tidemark Theatre. Some of the biggest events are licensed and take place within a gated area outside the Tidemark Theatre, with the road temporarily closed to all vehicles.

Country, Salsa, and Swing Dancing at CR Live Streets
Leading up the CR Live Streets events are a collection of free, drop-in dance lessons in June. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never danced before or don’t have a partner to bring; these casual classes are a welcoming, beginner-friendly opportunity for the whole family. Take your pick from salsa classes on Tuesday evenings from July 15-29, line dancing at 11 AM on Mondays from July 7 – August 25, or swing lessons on Tuesday evenings from August 5-19. For more information about class see the Campbell River Recreation Guide.
Each style of class is a chance to practice before you dance the night away at a corresponding themed live performance night that takes over the street. Come to Campbell River for Rockin’ River Country Night featuring Orchard Sky on July 23. Latin Night featuring Orquesta Obatala takes place on July 30, while Swing Night featuring Jon Hodge All Stars is on August 20. Themed outfits are highly encouraged!
Live Art at Campbell River Live Streets
Art Attack on the Row takes place on August 6. This event is a laid-back collaborative community art project where easels are set up along Shopper’s Row for individuals to contribute their artistic flair. There will also be plenty of other fun, family-friendly entertainment across the evening.
Caribbean Night, DJs, and the Live Streets Finale
Three additional nights of lively music from fantastic performers invite other styles of dance and attire. Caribbean Night on July 16 features the rhythms of Caleb Hart and Sonic Alley. On August 13, Back to the Fusion featuring Astrocolor and DJ Jennee Pleeze entices participants to wear their brightest colours, lean into the retro vibes, and get dancing. August 27 is the Campbell River Live Streets Finale—an unforgettable farewell to summer featuring the energetic pop sounds of Hey Ocean!
