Visitors to Campbell River will want to look to the skies on July 14 to witness a thrilling display. The Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, the SkyHawks, will be giving the community an exhilarating sky diving showcase this summer. Thirteen highly-trained demonstrators will drop through the air, expertly maneuvering their parachutes, and wowing the crowd with daring maneuvers.

Keep an eye on the sky to be the first to catch the flash of red that signals the start of the SkyHawks drop. Spectators will notice the Canadian flag in parachute form, accompanied by red and white smoke that follows the spiral path of the demonstrators and adds extra flair to the occasion.

Not only will visitors get to see the prowess of 13 demonstrators, but there’ll be opportunities to chat to the team behind Canada’s only military parachute demonstration team, learn more about the parachutes and gear, and have autographs signed. The performance takes a lot of hard-earned skill, exceptional teamwork, and extensive physical fitness—bring your curiosities and questions with you!
It takes not only the coordination of the demonstrators themselves, but a small but mighty ground crew who will also be in attendance to chat with enthusiastic spectators. The SkyHawks team is made up of personnel from lots of different Canadian military groups, including the Canadian Army, the Royal Canadian Navy, and the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The SkyHawks sky diving showcase will be based out of Fields 4 and 5 at Willow Point Park. Bring the whole family to this all ages event, and don’t forget to pack your lawn chairs or blanket! The official time for the skydiving portion is 12:30 PM, but why not bring a picnic and come down to the park sooner to enjoy all the family-friendly recreation on offer? There’s a disc golf course, a skatepark, a vibrant playground, and tennis courts. On a hot summer’s day, the Willow Point Splash Park is an ideal way to have fun and keep cool.
The SkyHawks celebration is provided to visitors and locals by a collaboration between the City of Campbell River, as part of their summer programming, and the SkyHawks team.
