Whale Watching Tour

September 19 @ 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm

This September, Prince of Whales is proud to partner with the Double Bay Sanctuary Foundation for a special fundraising whale-watching trip departing from Telegraph Cove.

On Saturday, September 19, guests will join us for a 3.5 to 4-hour adventure on the waters surrounding northern Vancouver Island. The trip will operate much like a regular Prince of Whales whale watching experience, with our crew searching for the incredible wildlife that calls this region home, including humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, sea lions, seabirds, and more. What makes this trip particularly special is a planned stop at Double Bay Sanctuary, giving guests the opportunity to see the project from the water and learn more about its vision directly from the people behind it.

Joining us onboard will be Michael Reppy, founder of the Double Bay Sanctuary Foundation, who will share more about the project, its progress, and the work being done at Double Bay.

Located on Hanson Island in the Broughton Archipelago, Double Bay Sanctuary is being developed with the vision of creating a retirement home for Corky, a Northern Resident killer whale currently living at SeaWorld San Diego. The Foundation’s broader work also focuses on ocean health through restoration, scientific research, education, and stewardship.

The Sanctuary has undergone significant work over the past several years, including the redevelopment of the former fishing lodge, improvements to infrastructure, habitat restoration, marine debris removal, and the installation of research equipment. In 2026 alone, work has included further improvements to the facility and the removal of more than eight tons of derelict fishing gear from Double Bay.

For Prince of Whales, this trip is an opportunity to bring together two things we care deeply about: connecting people with whales in the wild and supporting organizations working toward a healthier future for whales and their habitats.

Funds raised through this special trip will help support the Double Bay Sanctuary Foundation and the continued development of the Sanctuary.
