The Salmon Enhancement Derby is an annual two-day, family-friendly fishing tournament held at Moutcha Bay Resort that brings anglers together to catch Chinook and other salmon while raising money for habitat restoration and salmon enhancement in the Nootka Sound and Esperanza Inlet watersheds. Participants pay an entry fee per rod to compete for cash prizes for the largest fish, with additional categories like largest coho, under 16 prize, and hidden weight prizes. The event also features live and silent auctions, 50/50 ticket prize, raffles, food and drink at Conuma Grill, live music, and games, with all proceeds supporting conservation efforts through the Nootka Sound Watershed Society and Pacific Salmon Foundation.
